The Holy Fire in Jerusalem: Sovereignty and Polemics in the Interconfessional History of a Medieval Mediterranean Miracle

Dr. Adnan A. Husain is Director of the School of Religion and Associate Professor of the Medieval Mediterranean and Islamic World in the Department of History at Queen's University. He teaches and researches the interreligious and cross-cultural histories of the Medieval Mediterranean, including relations among Jews, Christians and Muslims. He shares his historical reflections and their relevance to contemporary affairs on two podcasts: Guerrilla History and The Adnan Husain Show. He has co-edited A Faithful Sea: The Religious Cultures of the Mediterranean (1200-1700), authored a forthcoming book titled Identity Polemics: Encounters with Islam in the Medieval Mediterranean World (1100-1300), and is currently at work on two projects: The Formation of a Crusading Society as well as a study of the Holy Fire miracle.
